Scabs of Heartbreak

our romantic intimacy
should have blossomed into ebullient prosperity
rambling weeds of doubt choked the spark
flame turned to ash
decaying in a cold shallow grave

had your love arrived
when the rose of innocence was the scent of trust
vulnerable as a butterfly alit a flower petal heartbreak
unaware the harsh winter cold
of embittered betrayal

we could have known the beauty
a lush prolific garden
rare orchids and lilies
roses and magnolia trees
stayed intoxicated on lust’s exotic scents

our hearts should have rejoiced
as offshoots from love’s scattered seeds
roots were never formed
soil remained barren
never watered nor enriched

instead ours was a love
borne in a remembrance of pain
past heartbreak bore its icy scars
frozen; a hardened scab of heartbreak
inexpugnably resisting love’s thaw

so we went our separate ways
neither hating nor loving
the scabs covering the pain
now and then I see your smile
in the summer rain
I miss what should have been love

Fair Maiden Waits

across an ocean blue
fair maiden stands
on white-hot sands
waiting for youwaiting

a promise of hope
is her strength to cope
nary a falter
her love never altered

with a heart that’s true
unaware of your guise
hope in her sigh
across an ocean blue
fair maiden waits for you

Save

Save

Imprisoned Heart

imprisoned heart

Mute

I languish to disclosemute
deepest secrets of my heart
the feverish desire you impart
suffering to break free
a love that beats against my chest
aching to be given rest
yet I remain mute

Agony is a Dancer

the dancer performs
spins through the air
erotic gestures
a flirtatious flair
sensual inflammation
a luring elicitation
a provocative snare drum beats pounding rhythm
to erotic bumps and grinds
pole gyrations
around she winds
hidden from the crowd
her agonizing tears
internal pain that whines shards of desolation
illusion on the dance floor
esurient menfolk
hunger for an encore
waving dollars with a dare
agony counts the minutes
dancer screams ‘no more’

Haunting Guilt

her image wanders the alleys of his mind
her memory lingers in a silent scream

when the moon is blue her vision haunts
a tormenting retribution to his soul

he calls out her name in anguish
there is no answer she is gone

he cries out remorse too late
her ears no longer hears his apology

only her haunting memory remains
no one to give absolution to his guilt

Blue Memory

when the bluish mist
of a breaking dawn
cast its blue mood
a melancholy shimmer
on the silent lake
I’m thinking of you
blue memory that aches

Tears of Heartbreak

I whisper your name
in the ache of midnight
spelling each letter
with the tears of heartbreak

Promise in a Music Box

  meet me tomorrow at daybreak
at the ocean shore, he implored
an anticipated lover’s rendezvousmusic box
hopeful promise ~ a secret new

morning sun danced across the sea
found his note along with the key
lovely locked porcelain music box
good-bye token he’d left for me

Bittersweet melody a farewell song
lover’s promise already gone

I’ll always love you but cannot stay
sea is my mistress I cannot betray
this porcelain box ~ song that it plays
reminder ~ in my heart you’ll stay
