My Soul Had Died

I watched you go, my stubborn pride
just wouldn’t let me cry

Felt the nausea deep inside
aloneness I couldn’t hide
from myself, although I tried

Eyed the freedom in your stride
Tears pushed back until they dried
Freezing the heart that dwelt inside
I was as stone, my soul had died
